7/3/21 : Minor League Roundup


Triple A East League - Lehigh Valley/Trenton


Completed suspended game from 7/2 & played regularly scheduled game


Summary : Suspended Game from 7/2 - Lehigh Valley 5 ( 22-30 ) Erie 4 ( 30-20 )


The game was picked up with two outs in the top of the fifth inning with a runner on second base and the score being Erie 4, Lehigh Valley 1.


Alejandro Kirk hit a solo homer for Trenton in the first inning. They scored three runs in the second inning.


Dalton Guthrie doubled in the fifth inning and scored on a double by Matt Vierling.


The Iron Pigs scored three runs in the sixth inning … Mickey Moniak tripled, he scored on a groundout. , Austin Listi walked, Dalton Guthrie & Freddy Francisco each singled and Rafael Marchan & Matt Vierling drew bases loaded walks. It was Francisco’s first hit at the AAA level … skipper Gary Jones had the ball retrieved for him.


The game went into rain delay again after six innings of play. Play resumed at around 9:10 PM


Austin Listi doubled to score Ruben Tejada ( walked ) in the top of the seventh inning.


On The Hill :

At Bat :


Dalton Guthrie had two hits including a double. Darick Hall, Austin Listi & Matt Vierling each doubled. Vierling walked twice and had two RBIs. Mickey Moniak tripled.

RHP Neftali Feliz cleared waivers and has elected free agency.


Double A NorthEast League - Reading 3 ( 21-32 ) Erie 0 ( 32-21 ) _ No Hitter !!


Summary : No Hitter ! - First Reading No Hitter since 2007 !


Daniel Brito hit a two run home run over the right field wall in the third inning scoring Luke Miller ( doubled ) in front of him.


RHP Francisco Morales was outstanding … he went six no hit no run innings … dominate performance. Fastball sat in the 94-97 mph range and he mixed his pitches exceptionally well … slider, curve and change up. The curve in particular had great bite. Since he’s went to a better mix and sequencing of pitches he’s been very effective. Way to go Francisco !


Erie loaded the bases on walks against Zach Warren in the seventh inning but Kyle Dohy came in and recorded the last out of the frame on a soft liner to Brito to keep them off the board.


Luke Miller led off the 8th inning with a home run.


On The Hill :

Daniel Brito & Luke Miller each homered. Miller and Jorge Bonifacio each doubled.

Miller scored twice.


High A East League - Jersey Shore/Hudson Valley - Doubleheader


Game One : Jersey Shore 2 ( 22-29 ) Hudson Valley 0 ( 32-19 )


Summary :


Nate Fassnacht led off the game with a home run over the left field fence.


In the fourth inning Jhailyn Ortiz singled and scored on a double by Vito Friscia.


Dominic Pipkin was outstanding. His fastball was consistently in the 96-98 mph range and he mixed in crisp secondaries. He’s now thrown 11 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to his last start.


On The Hill :

RH Tyler Burch - 1 perfect inning to close it - 💪 - 2 K’s - 11 pitches - 9 strikes

Vito Friscia had two hits including a double, he also walked. Nate Fassnacht homered.


Notes :


2B Casey Martin delivered a web gem in the fourth inning … he caught a semi line drive and dove to touch the second base bag with his glove before baserunner Josh Breaux could get back to the base to complete an unassisted double play.


Game Two : Hudson Valley 2 ( 33-19 ) Jersey Shore 0 ( 22-30 )


Summary :


Hudson Valley scored a run in the 4th inning on a home run by Ezequiel Duran. They scored another run in the fifth inning.


On The Hill :

Low A SouthEast League - Clearwater 2 ( 28-25 ) St Lucie 1 ( 28-25 )

Summary :


Luis Garcia hit a solo home run in the first inning, his 5th of the season.


St Lucie scored a run in the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk.


Luis Garcia tripled in the sixth inning, he scored on a sacrifice fly by Johan Rojas.


Great pitching by Eduar Segovia & Victor Vargas tonight … in particular Vargas who allowed no hits or walks over four innings of work facing 15 batters. 💪.


On The Hill :


RH Eduar Segovia - 5 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 6 K’s - 72 pitches - 45 strikes

RH Victor Vargas - 4 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s - 42 pitches - 33 strikes.

Prior to today’s game LHP Anton Kuznetsov was added to the roster from the FCL Phillies. LHP Maikel Garrido was transferred to the FCL Phillies roster.
