Reading infielder Felix Reyes and Florida Complex League Phillies right-handed pitcher Ramon Marquez have been named Phillies Minor League Hitter and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for June.
Reyes, 24, slashed .324/.360/.620 (.980 OPS), going 23-for-71 with 14 runs, five doubles, two triples, four home runs, nine RBI and a 12.0 percent strikeout rate (9 SO, 75 PA) in 18 games for double-A Reading during the month. Among Eastern League hitters in June (min. 75 plate appearances), the Dominican Republic native ranked fourth in slugging percentage and OPS, tied for fourth in strikeout rate, tied for fifth in triples and extra-base hits (11), seventh in batting average and tied for seventh in total bases (44). The right-handed hitter’s streak of four games with multiple hits from June 8-13 is tied for the longest such streak by a Fightin Phils player this season. He also scored three runs on June 11 vs New Hampshire and June 21 vs Hartford, tying his career high. Reyes signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent on Feb. 22, 2020, and was signed by Luis García.
The 19-year-old Marquez made five starts for FCL Phillies in June, going 1-2 with a 2.57 ERA (6 ER, 21.0 IP), 26 strikeouts, five walks, a 0.86 WHIP and a .173 opponent’s batting average (13-75). The right-hander ranked first in the FCL in WHIP, second in opponent’s batting average, tied for second in innings pitched, third in strikeouts and sixth in ERA during the month. Among FCL pitchers who faced at least 65 batters, his 30.6 percent strikeout rate (26 SO, 85 TBF) ranked eighth while his 5.9 percent walk rate (5 BB, 85 TBF) was tied for 10th. On June 3 at FCL Tigers, the Phoenix native earned his first professional win after pitching 4.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and zero walks. His four-game streak with at least five strikeouts from June 3-23 is the longest such streak by an FCL Phillies player this year. Marquez was signed by the Phillies as amateur free agent on Jan. 15, 2025, and he was signed by Charlie Gastelum.
