The 29 year old former # 1 draft pick of the Los Angeles Angels in the 2010 draft is the son of former Phillies Cy Young Award winner Steve Bedrosian. He has signed a minor league contract with the Phillies and will be assigned to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.
Bedrosian was designated for assignment by the Oakland A’s on 6/29 and elected free agency on 7/3. He appeared in nine games with the A’s and posted a 1.44 WHIP and a 2.00 ERA in 9 games ( 9 IP). He began the season with the Reds but signed with the A’s after being designated by the Reds in April. He had signed with the Reds as a free agent in Spring Training.
From 2014 thru 2020 he was a regular part of the LA Angels bullpen. He posted a 1.12 ERA in 45 games in 2016 and appeared in a career high 71 games in 2018. In 15 combined appearances between the A’s and Reds this season he’s posted a 5.52 ERA.
He throws five pitches with the slider being his out pitch for most of his career, fast ball has dipped in velocity since 2016 yet generally sits in the 93-94 range. He’s now incorporated a split finger fastball into his repertoire and used that over 10 percent of the time he pitched for the A’s. He missed a good portion of the 2020 season with a right abductor strain but seems to be back in good health.
Best wishes to Cam as he joins the Phillies, who knows … he may prove to be a valuable addition to the big league bullpen.
