International League ( AAA ) -  Jacksonville 7 (25-20, 57-62)  Lehigh Valley 4 (28-16, 64-53)

Allentown, PA - Coca- Cola Park


Summary :


Aramis Garcia homered in the first inning.


Jacksonville scored three runs in the second inning on two walks and two singles.  They added two more in the third on a home run by Troy Johnston.


Simon Muzziotti homered in the sixth inning.


Jacksonville scored a run in the eighth on two doubles.


Aramis Garcia hit his second home run of the game in the 8th inning scoring Kody Clemens (singled) in front of himself.


Three singles scored a run for Jacksonville in the ninth inning.


On the Hill :


Brett Schulze opened and went one and one third innings, two runs, no hits, three walks, two strikeouts.  Taylor Lehman pitched two thirds of an inning, one run, two hits.  Noah Skirrow pitched four innings, two runs, five hits, one walk, five strikeouts.  Braden Zarbnisky pitched an inning, no runs or hits, one walk. Connor Brogdon went one frame, one run, two hits, one strikeout. Jeremy Walker tossed an inning, one run, three hits, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Aramis Garcia hit two home runs and posted three RBIs.  Simon Muzziotti had two hits (single & HR).

Summary :


Somerset scored three runs in the fifth inning on a walk, double and two singles.


Marcus Lee Sang homered in the fifth inning, his first at the AA level.


Jesus Bastidas homered for Somerset in the sixth inning. A walk, double and single scored two more.


On the Hill :


Josh Hendrickson pitched four innings, no runs, three hits, three walks, four strikeouts.  Adam Leverett went one inning, three runs, four hits, one walk, two strikeouts.   Andrew Baker pitched an inning, three runs, three hits, two walks, two strikeouts.  Jordi Martinez made his Reading debut, two scoreless innings, two hits, no walks, one strikeout.  Tristan Garnett pitched a perfect inning, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Marcus Lee Sang had two hits (single and home run).  Carlos De La Cruz and Pedro Martinez each singled and walked twice.

Left fielder Ethan Wilson laid out to make a diving catch in the corner by the fence to end the fourth inning, the bases were loaded! Right fielder Baron Radcliff also flashed the leather with a leaping catch against the fence to record an out.

Summary :


Gabriel Rincones Jr doubled in the first inning and scored on a double by Kendall Simmons.


Asheville scored a run in the fifth inning on two walks, a single and ground out.


Gabriel Rincones Jr singled in the bottom of the fifth, Kendall Simmons walked.  Leandro Pineda singled to score a run.run.


Anthony Quirion doubled in the 6th inning and scored on a single by Cade Fergus. Gabriel Rincones Jr doubled to score Fergus.


On the Hill :


Carlos Betancourt opened and pitched four innings, no runs, two hits, two walks, seven strikeouts.  Jack Dallas pitched an inning, one run, one hit, two walks.  Rodolfo Sanchez pitched two scoreless innings, one hit, no walks, four strikeouts.  Konnor Ash pitched an inning, no runs or hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Jason Ruffcorn closed it out, one inning, no runs, one hit, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Gabriel Rincones Jr had four hits (two singles & two doubles). Erick Brito had two hits (single & double).  Kendall Simmons and Anthony Quirion each doubled.

Third baseman Otto Kemp made a tremendous play in the fifth inning, he backhanded a ball hit down the third base line and threw the runner out at first base from foul territory making the throw over the third base coach’s head 😳.  Did I mention the bases were loaded - great play!  A batter later a fly ball to seemingly no man’s land in short right field was caught by right fielder Leandro Pineda on the run, he then threw a strike to home plate to double up the base runner attempting to tag and score from third base!

“On Thursday night, the BlueClaws threw their first one hitter since August 14, 2021 in a 12-inning win at Hudson Valley.  In that game, Tyler McKay threw six hitless innings and Manuel Silva threw three, but the game remained scoreless.  Blake Brown gave up a hit to the leadoff man in the 10th putting runners on the corners, but escaped the jam. Summary :


Dunedin scored three runs in the first inning on three singles, a hit batter and an error.  They added a run in the third on two singles and a walk.


Jordan Dissin singled in the fourth inning, Jordan Viars was hit by a pitch.  A groundout advanced them a base.  Troy Schreffler hit a sac fly to score a run. William Bergolla singled to score another.


Dunedin scored four in the 5th inning on five singles and a walk.


Ricardo Rosario homered in the bottom of the fifth inning.


Dunedin scored twice in the seventh inning on three walks and two singles.


Troy Schreffler singled in the seventh, William Bergolla walked.  They advanced on a ground out.  Felix Reyes hit a sac fly to score a run.  Ricardo Rosario singled to score another.


The game went into weather delay in the top of the eighth inning.  It was eventually called.


On the Hill :


Eiberson Castellano went three innings, four runs - three earned, five hits, two walks, four strikeouts.  Jaydenn Estanista pitched an inning and a third, four runs, five hits, one walk, three strikeouts.  Nathan Karaffa pitched two and a third innings, two runs, two hits, three walks, one strikeout.  Yoniel Ramirez pitched one third of an inning.


At the Bat :


Jordan Dissin and Ricardo Rosario (single & HR) each had two hits.
