Florida Complex League :
Today’s game between the Phillies and Jays was played in the stadium ( BayCare Ballpark ). General admission is still prohibited due to Covid protocol.
It was also debut day for a few young Phillies. Outfielder Simon Muzziotti made his 2021 debut playing center field, eighteen year old infielder Hao Yu Lee made his professional debut starting the game at second base and 18 year old RHP Micah Ottenbreit ( 2021 4th round draft choice ) made his pro pitching debut.
The Game : Phillies 7 ( 19-11 ) Blue Jays 5 ( 22-21 )
The Phillies scored four in the first inning … Simon Muzziotti doubled, he went to third on a double by Jamari Baylor. Muzziotti scored on a groundout by Wilfredo Flores and Baylor scored on a single by Jordan Viars. Edgar Made homered to right center field to score Viars.
The Blue Jays answered with four runs in the third inning on a couple walks, two doubles and a wild pitch. The Phillies immediately answered with two runs in their half of the inning as Wilfredo Flores absolutely annihilated a pitch and drove it deep over the right center field fence for a two run dinger.
Jamari Baylor crushed one over the right center field fence in the 7th inning, the young man can swing the bat, the sound off the bat makes “that barrel sound” when he hits it, loud and hit hard, he’s barreled a lot of baseballs when I’ve seen him hit this summer.
The Jays added a run in the 8th to close out the scoring.

LH Tristan Garnett - 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s - pitches “downhill” - ball comes out of his hand with a seemingly downward slope, a bit of a short arm delivery, showed swing and miss secondaries - seemed to be today’s focus - impressive outing
RH Micah Ottenbreit - 1 perfect IP - 1 K - 11 pitches - good velo - 93-94 - tall thin hurler with easy delivery - showed curveball and change as secondaries today
RH Chi-Ling Hsu - 2 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 0 K’s
At the Plate : 8 hits, 4 walks, 10 strikeouts
Jamari Baylor had a walk and two hits ( double & HR ) … his OPS of 1.021 leads the Florida Coast League. Edgar Made & and Wilfredo Flores homered … Simon Muzziotti doubled.
Notes
Jordan Viars made a nice running catch in left field today, great read and jump … an over the shoulder grab. Hao Yu Lee batted once and popped out to first base, he played three innings in the field … that is the usual ramp up, next time it’s likely a six inning appearance.
RHP Andrew Painter ( 2021 1st round draft choice ) threw a live BP session today on Ashburn Field … from afar he impressed … expect to see him in first game action on Friday based upon the usual schedule after a live BP session.
