Injury Updates (rehab group at the complex) :

Multiple  players continue to work towards returning to game action at the complex under the guidance of the rehab team.

Side bullpens this week were thrown by Cam Brown, Angel Liranzo, Alex McFarlane, Spencer Turnbull (2), Marty Gair and Andrew Painter.  Angel Liranzo threw a live BP session on Friday.

Outfielder Ricardo Rosario was transferred to the Clearwater Threshers on rehab assignment as was pitcher Blaine Knight.  Pitcher Alex Garbrick continued his rehab assignment with Clearwater.

New Player workouts :

The initial Bridge League game was played on 8/2 - the Phillies contingent lost to the Blue Jays in Dunedin by an 8-5 count.  Catcher Kodey Shojinaga, DH Rickardo Perez and second baseman Nolan Beltran each had two hits.  Perez and right fielder Griffin Burkholder hit doubles.

Throughout the week fielding drills, batting practices, strength and conditioning sessions, education classes and bullpens took place.  Every pitcher has thrown at least one side bullpen session.  Weather permitting this coming week live BP sessions will begin.

Shown below is the remaining tentative Phillies Bridge League game schedule. On dates where no game is scheduled there will be camp days.  It’s the rainy season in Florida so the schedule is subject to daily changes as are practice sessions.

One other note :  per the minor league CBA domestic first year minor league player contracts don’t count against the 165 domestic minor league reserve roster limit until either the player has been placed on an active roster (Bridge League participation is not considered as an active roster designation) or 15 days have elapsed after signing the contract.  As an example the Phillies draft signees on 7/23/24 won’t count against the reserve limit until 8/9/24 unless activated with an affiliate club before then.
