International League ( AAA ) -  Lehigh Valley 5 (19-12, 55-49) Buffalo 4 (19-12, 53-53)

Allentown, PA - Coca-Cola Park


Summary :


Scott Kingery walked in the third inning and went to third on a double by Rafael Marchan.  Jim Haley singled to score two runs.


Weston Wilson singled in the third inning, Kody Clemens walked, Aramis Garcia doubled to score them both.


Darick Hall homered in the fifth inning.


Buffalo scored two runs in the 6th on two doubles and a single.  They added a run in the 8th on a walk, single and sac fly.


Luis De Los Santos homered for Buffalo in the ninth inning.


On the Hill :


Nick Nelson pitched six innings, two runs, four hits, four walks, three strikeouts.  Jeremy Walker went two innings, one run, one hit, one walk, one strikeout. Ben Bowden finished it, one inning, one run, one hit, no walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Rafael Marchan had two hits (single & double).  Aramis Garcia doubled.  Darick Hall homered.

Summary :


Matt Kroon homered to lead off the game.


Cam Cannon doubled in the third inning and scored on a single by Ethan Wilson.  Jhailyn Ortiz hit a two run home run.


Oliver Dunn singled in the fifth inning, Ethan Wilson doubled and Jhailyn Ortiz hit his second home run of the game, this one delivered three runs.


Hartford scored two runs in the 6th inning on three singles and a sac fly.


Carlos De La Cruz homered in the seventh inning.


Bladimir Restituyo hit a two run home run for Hartford in the 8th inning.


A double, three walks and a hit batter scored two Hartford runs in the ninth inning.


On the Hill :


David Parkinson pitched six innings, two runs, seven hits, two walks, five strikeouts.  Andrew Schultz struck out the side in a perfect seventh inning.  Carlos Francisco pitched one and two third innings, four runs - two earned, two hits, two walks, four strikeouts. Andrew Baker battled and closed it, one third of an inning, no runs, no hits, two walks, two inherited runners scored.


At the Bat :


Jhailyn Ortiz (two HR’s & 5 RBIs), Carlos De La Cruz (single & HR) and Ethan Wilson (single & double) each had two hits. Casey Martin and Cam Cannon each doubled.  Matt Kroon homered.

Summary :


Anthony Quirion walked in the 5th inning, Freylin Minyety singled, Quirion moved to third on a fly out by Nick Ward and scored on an infield single by Marcus Lee Sang.


Freylin Minyety and Marcus Lee Sang singled in the seventh, Gabriel Rincones Jr reached on an error to load the bases.  Caleb Ricketts grounded out to score a run.  Another fielding error scored Lee Sang.


On the Hill :


Rafael Marcano pitched five innings, no runs, four hits, three walks and five strikeouts.  Matt Russell pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, no walks, one strikeout.  Jordi Martinez pitched one and two third innings, no runs or hits, one walk, two strikeouts. Wesley Moore finished it by retiring all four batters he faced.


At the Bat :


Freylin Minyety, Leandro Pineda and Marcus Lee Sang each had two hits.  Pineda doubled.

Summary :


A single and double scored a first inning run for Lakeland.


William Bergolla walked in the first inning, Ricardo Rosario singled and Felix Reyes singled to score Bergolla. Zach Arnold walked, Ryan Leitch reached on a fielders choice to score a run.


Lakeland scored three in the second inning including two on a home run by Max Anderson.


Lakeland scored three runs in the fourth inning on three singles and a sac fly.  Jim Jarvis hit a two run home run for them in the fifth inning.


Bryan Rincon and Felix Reyes singled in the 5th inning, Zach Arnold singled to score a run.


Jordan Viars walked in the seventh, Troy Schreffler singled, Justin Crawford singled to score Viars.


Three walks and a sac fly scored a Lakeland run in the seventh.


Zach Arnold walked, Jordan Viars singled and William Bergolla walked in the ninth inning, with two outs Justin Crawford hit a grand slam!  The first of his career.


On the Hill :


Christian McGowan went two innings, four runs, five hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Jaydenn Estanista pitched two innings, three runs, three hits, no walks, four strikeouts.  Yoniel Ramirez went two and one third innings, three runs, three hits, three walks, three strikeouts.  Daniel Harper pitched one and two third innings, no runs, one hit.  Nathan Karaffa pitched a scoreless frame, two hits allowed.


At the Bat :


Justin Crawford  had three hits, two singles and a grand slam home run, he posted five RBIs. Felix Reyes and Troy Schreffler each had two hits.



Florida Complex League


Blue Jays 3 (14-28) Phillies 0 (23-20) - seven innings

@ Clearwater, FL


Summary :


The Blue Jays scored a run in the fourth inning on a double and subsequent fielding error.  Braden Barry hit a two run home run for them in the sixth inning.


On the Hill :


Daniel Mejia went five innings, one unearned run, three hits, one walk, four strikeouts.  Javier Fuenmayor pitched two innings, two runs, one hit, one walk, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


The team was held to one hit, a single by Raylin Heredia.


Notes :


Catcher Kehden Hettiger has shown a very strong and accurate throwing arm, he threw out two more runners attempting to steal second base today, that’s four we’ve witnessed since he signed with the club as the 2023 11th round draft selection.



Dominican Summer League :


White Sox 2 (23-20) Phillies Red 1 (23-19)

Summary :


Victor Cardoza doubled in the first inning, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sac fly by Juan Villavicencio.


A walk and two singles scored a run for the White Sox in the second inning, Phillies left fielder Yonkelvin Polanco threw a runner out at the plate.


A single, two wild pitches and a sac fly scored a run for the White Sox in the 5th inning.


On the Hill :


Adilson Peralta went four innings, one run, three hits, two walks, two strikeouts.  Luis Gonzalez pitched four and two third innings, no runs, three hits, two walks, five strikeouts - he stranded two inherited runners.


At the Bat :


Victor Cardoza had two hits (single & double), the team had four hits in total.



Phillies White 7 (34-8) Brewers1. 0 (23-18)

@ Brewers Training Complex


Summary :


Romel Mendez singled in the first inning, Jerffson Pena walked, they advanced a base on a wild pitch.  Mendez scored on a sac fly by Yemil Rosario.


A hit batter, walk and catcher’s interference loaded the bases for the Phillies in the third inning, a walk then scored a run. A single by Jarol Martinez scored another.


With two runners on in the fifth inning Aroon Escobar doubled to score a run.  Jose Marchan singled to score two more.


Kilwer Colmenares singled in the seventh, advanced to second when Andres Tabares walked and scored on a single by Luis Pelegrín.


On the Hill :


Three pitchers combined for the shutout, Pedro Reyes opened and went two frames, Angel Liranzo pitched five innings, two hits, no walks, four strikeouts - the seventeen year old now has a 1.21 ERA in 22 1/3 IP (8 appearances) for the season.  Luis Avila went the final two innings.


At the Bat :


Romel Mendez had two hits, Jerffson Pena and Aroon Escobar each doubled.




System Transactions :


Reading : LHP Matt Osterberg promoted from Jersey Shore - placed on Development List.


Jersey Shore : C Caleb Ricketts reinstated from the Seven-Day Injured List.


Clearwater : Returned RHP Jaydenn Estanista from his minor league rehab assignment and reinstated him from the 60-Day Injured List.  Transferred the minor league rehab assignment of RHP Christian McGowan from the FCL Phillies to the Clearwater Threshers.


FCL Phillies : Added RHP Eduar Segovia (Low-A Clearwater 60-day IL) beginning a minor league rehab assignment.  Activated C Lou Albrecht,  Transferred 1B/OF Junior Marin from the 7-day IL to the 60-day IL (retroactive to 8/4).  Released IF Randy Vasquez and LHP Christopher Soriano.


RHP Paxton Thompson (RHP) has been signed to a minor league contract, he played collegiate baseball at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he was 8-2 with a 4.22 ERA in 22 games (64 IP) with a three pitch arsenal (FB - 91 to 94 mph), Slider (80-83 mph) and Changeup (82 to 84 mph).
