9/11/22 : Week Twenty-Three Minor League Review ( 9/5 to 9/11 )

Position Players of the Week :

1B Darick Hall - 8 for 19 ( .421 ) with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 8 RBIs - had a “Long Ball Hall” week which I’m sure will get a look for International League Player of the week honors.  He now has 24 home runs and 80 RBIs for LHV in 340 AB’s - coupled with his 9 taters and 16 RBIs while in the show he’s posted 33 home runs and 96 RBIs this season 😳👀.  An .862 OPS in the minors and .846 OPS in the show - outstanding numbers - is a big league hitter - some of us have said that all along 🤓.

IF Hao Yu Lee - Jersey Shore - 8 for 20 ( .400 ) with 3 doubles and a triple - had a slight injury setback shortly after getting promoted to Jersey Shore but this week showcased the hitting prowess we’ve been writing about most of the summer - a very solid professional hitter type and just 19 years old - had a very good overall season between Clearwater and Jersey Shore - .284 BA in 299 AB’s with 15 doubles, 2 triples, 9 home runs and 53 RBIs - every time I see him play I see Placido Polanco reborn on the field 😁.  The young man can play.

Footnotes :

Other Position Player standouts :

Lehigh Valley :

IF Yairo Munoz - 6 or 19 ( .316 ) with a double and 3 RBIs - energy, energy, energy - plays with a love of the game that shines thru - .310 BA in 268 AB’s for LHV - dugout shots of him jumping in the arms of Darick Hall this week after home runs tells just how great a teammate he is.

IF Scott Kingery - 5 for 12 ( .417 ) with 2 doubles and 3 RBIs - has really hit the ball well since 8/19 going 16 for 44 ( .363 ) in that 15 game span with 3 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs and 9 RBIs.  He’s posted a .467 OBP thus far in September in 31 plate appearances - very pleasant young man - we’ve always pulled for him - hopefully the run of success carries on.

IF Johan Camargo - 4 for 11 ( .363 ) with a HR and 3 RBIs - .370 OBP for September

Reading :

IF Kevin Vicuna - 8 for 20 ( .400 ) - hitting .444 ( 12 for 27 ) with a .483 OBP for the month of September.

OF Johan Rojas -  6 for 16 ( .375 ) with 4 stolen bases - now has 61 stolen bases ( 28 for Reading ) for the season - he’s only the 13th Phillies minor leaguer to steal more than 60 bases in a season dating back to 1960.  He’s got a .405 OBP for the month of September in 37 plate appearances with 5 doubles and a triple.

IF McCarthy Tatum - 6 for 20 ( .300 ) with 4 doubles, a home run and seven RBIs - since coming back from a hand injury he’s went 14 for 48.

OF Carlos De La Cruz - 8 for 27 ( .296 ) with 2 doubles, a triple, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs - .357 OBP for the month of September in 42 PA’s - has 19 doubles, 2 triples, 17 HR and 42 RBIs overall this season ( Jersey Shore & Reading ) with a .272 BA in 342 AB’s - has a .281 BA in  128 AB’s with Reading - 9 doubles 7 HR & 18 RBIs.

Jersey Shore :

IF Kendall Simmons - 8 for 23 ( .348 ) with 2 doubles, a home run and 6 RBIs - went 12 for 31 ( .387 ) in final 8 games after missing some time due to a shoulder issue. We’ve always been excited about the bat speed and ability to turn on pitches - in the last eight games he put together as good a stretch as we’ve seen for him - .447 OBP - great positive vibes always - outstanding teammate - great to see some numbers to reflect the skill set - next spring can’t come soon enough 🤓

1B Rixon Wingrove - 6 for 20 ( .300 ) with a double, 2 home runs and 7 RBIs - finishes the year with 12 home runs and 43 RBIs - will play winter league ball for Adelaide in the Australian Baseball League.

OF Baron Radcliff - 6 for 24 with a double, home run and three RBIs. Capped off a torrid finish to his season - at the All-Star break had went home and conferred with his dad about his swing and approach - came back with less movement and shorter to the ball - in the months of August and September hit .316 with 4 doubles, a triple, 9 home runs and 27 RBIs 🔥.  Finished the season with 17 home runs and 49 RBIs with a .350 OBP - gonna be fun to see where this goes next year 👀

IF Nicolas Torres - went 5 for 7 including a 4 hit game on Saturday

IF Freylin Minyety - went 4 for 6 including a 3 hit game on Sunday

IF Sal Gozzo - 5 for 16 ( .312 ) - came back to Jersey Shore to help them finish the year after Casey Martin was injured.  He was transferred back to the Reading roster on Sunday to complete his season next week with the Fightin’s
