9/14/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 10 (40-26, 76-63)  Rochester 2 (29-35, 63-74)

Rochester, NY - Innovative Field


Summary :


Kody Clemens and Darick Hall walked in the first inning, they both scored on a triple by Rafael Marchan.


Blake Rutherford homered for Rochester in the bottom of the first inning.


Weston Wilson singled in the third inning and scored on Rafael Marchan’s second triple of the game.


Simon Muzziotti reached on a fielding error in the sixth inning and scored on a double by Esteban Quiroz.  Brewer Hicklen walked.  A passed ball moved both runners up.  Scott Kingery singled to score two runs.


A double, two walks and a hit batter scored a run for Rochester in the sixth inning.


Rafael Marchan singled in the eighth inning, Esteban Quiroz doubled.  A wild pitch scored Marchan. Cal Stevenson walked.  Scott Kingery singled to score a run.  Kody Clemens hit a two run home run.


On the Hill :


Michael Plassmeyer pitched five innings, one run, five hits, two walks, five strikeouts. Tyler McKay pitched two innings, one run, one hit, two walks, three strikeouts.  Connor Brogdon pitched a scoreless inning, no hits, one walk, two strikeouts.  Andrew Bellatti pitched the ninth inning, no runs, two hits.


At the Bat :


Esteban Quiroz (two doubles and a single) and Rafael Marchan (two triples and single) had three hits.  Weston Wilson had two hits.  Kody Clemens hit a two run home run, his 15th dinger of the season.

Rafael Marchan missed the first third of the season rehabbing from a broken hamate, but has made up for lost time of late. In his past 20 games(prior to tonight), Marchan has slashed .354/.463/.539 for a 1.002 OPS with nine doubles, a homer, and 16 RBI. Summary :


Baron Radcliff homered in the seventh inning.


Binghamton won the game in the bottom of the ninth by scoring two runs on a single, two walks and a double.


On the Hill :


Matt Osterberg was outstanding, seven innings, no runs, two hits, no walks, six strikeouts - 89 pitches - 62 strikes.  Carlos Francisco pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, one strikeout.  Andrew Baker pitched 2/3 of an inning, two runs, two hits, two walks, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Herbert Iser had two hits. Baron Radcliff homered.


Defensive Gem :


Third baseman Nick Ward made a diving stop on a hard grounder down the line, popped up and threw a strike to first base to record the out!

South Atlantic League ( High A ) Playoffs Game Two - Hudson Valley 6 Jersey Shore 2 (series tied 1-1)

Wappingers Falls, NY - Heritage Financial Park


Summary :


Bryan Rincon walked in the second inning, stole second and scored on a single by Jared Carr.


A single and walk followed by an RBI single by Anthony Hall scored a run for Hudson Valley in the second inning.


Jared Serna walked for HV in the third inning, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Christopher Familia.


Spencer Henson homered for Hudson Valley in the fourth inning.


Spencer Henson doubled for HV in the sixth and scored on a single by Jared Serna.


Three singles scored two runs for HV in the seventh inning.


Jared Carr tripled in the eighth inning and scored on a sac fly by Erick Brito.


The series is tied 1-1 - deciding game tomorrow.


On the Hill :


Mitch Neunborn pitched three and one third innings, three runs, five hits, three walks, six strikeouts.  Carlos Betancourt pitched two and two third innings, one run, three hits, two walks, two strikeouts.  Cam Wynne pitched an inning, two runs, three hits, two strikeouts.  Malik Binns pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, one walk, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Jared Carr had two hits (single &triple) as did Leandro Pineda (single & double).  Justin Crawford doubled.

Summary :


Two walks and a single by Kevin McGonigle (he’s from Drexel Hill, PA) scored a run for Lakeland in the third inning.


Jose De La Cruz hit a two run home run for Lakeland in the fourth inning.


Two walks, a wild pitch and single (Max Anderson) scored a run for Lakeland in the fifth inning.  Another walk and a catching error by first baseman Chad Castillo scored two more runs.


A single, four walks and two singles scored four runs for Lakeland in the sixth inning.


Aidan Miller reached on an error in the seventh, Raylin Heredia doubled. Ryan Leitch doubled to score two runs.


The series is tied 1-1 - deciding game tomorrow.


On the Hill :


Estibenzon Jimenez pitched four innings, three runs, three hits, three walks and six strikeouts.  Hunter Loyd went 1/3 of an inning, three runs - two earned, one hit, three walks. Eiberson Castellano went an inning plus, four runs, two hits, three walks, two strikeouts.  Brayden Tucker pitched 2/3 of an inning, three inherited runners scored, one hit, two walks.  Ezequiel Ventura pitched three innings, no runs, four hits, one walk, two strikeouts.


At the Bat :


Raylin Heredia and Ryan Leitch doubled.

Clearwater : Reinstated RHP Brandon Beckel from the Development List . Placed LHP Danny Wilkinson on the Seven-Day Injured List .
