9/23/24 : Minor League Week in Review - 9/17 to 9/22

A summary of results and standouts from the past week in the Phillies minor league system.


 Lehigh Valley :

 

The IronPigs went 3-3 hosting Worcester, they finished the season at 68-78 overall and 34-39 in the second half.  First baseman Carson Taylor went 6 for 19 with 6 walks in 27 plate appearances (.519  OBP) in his first week of AAA level play, outfielder Carlos De La Cruz was 3 for 9 and first baseman Darick Hall hit two home runs and drove in six runs including a grand slam walk-off season ending 418 foot knock in his last AB to cap a great run as an IronPig!  RHP Tyler Phillips pitched six innings in his last start of the season allowing two earned runs.  RHP Alan Rangel pitched five innings on Sunday allowing just one run on three hits. Scott Kingery was honored by the team as the hitter of the year and RHP Michael Mercado was honored as the pitcher of the year.


 Injury Updates (rehab group at the complex) :

 

Multiple players continue to work towards returning to game action at the complex under the guidance of the rehab team.  Side bullpens of individualized length and restrictions (pitch count) were thrown by Marty Gair, Chase Hopewell and Alex McFarlane.  Live BP sessions were thrown by Andrew Painter and Spencer Turnbull.  Turnbull made a rehab appearance with Lehigh Valley on Sunday.


Dominican Fall Instructs


Fall Instructs Camp continues at the Dominican Academy - 53 players are participating.
