Worcester 2 Lehigh Valley 1


Summary :


Mickey Moniak hit a home run in the 6th inning to score the game’s first run.


Colton Eastman was great … he didn’t allow a run or hit for 6 2/3 innings, in his last two starts for the Iron Pigs he tossed 12 2/3 scoreless frames ( 6 IP vs Buffalo on 9/22 ) allowing just seven hits.


Worcester tied the score in the 8th inning on a walk followed by a double by Tristan Casas and a sac fly by Franchy Cordero.


Worcester took the lead in the ninth inning scoring a run on two singles, a wild pitch and fielders choice … the FC was a play at the plate where the runner from third base beat the throw home on an infield grounder.


Darick Hall led off the bottom of the 9th with a double, Arquimedes Gamboa pinch ran for him. Simon Muzziotti put down a perfect bunt down the third base line that moved Gamboa to third and allowed him to reach first on an infield single. Adam Haseley walked with one out to load the bases. Luke Williams struck out and Mickey Moniak grounded out to second base to end the game.

Solardo Rodriquez ( 17 yrs old ) had 2 hits ( including a double ) and 2 RBIs in 3 AB’s, he also stole two bases. Diego Gonzalez ( 18 yrs old ) doubled.


LH Joel Valdez ( 21 yrs old ) pitched 4 innings ( 1 unearned R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K’s ). RH Javier Fuenmayor went 3 innings ( 1 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 6 K’s ) and LH Sergio Sanchez pitched the final 2 frames ( 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s ).


Phillies White 3 ( 33-19 ) Cubs Red 0 ( 26-28 )


RH Jonathan Petit ( 20 yrs old ) pitched 5 innings ( 0 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 5 K’s ) and RH Estibenzon Jimenez ( 19 yrs old ) 4 innings ( 3 H, 0 BB, 4 K’s ) for the combined shutout.


Jose Leanez ( 18 yrs old ) and Ricardo Rosario ( 18 yrs old ) each had two hits. Rosario and Kliubert Avila each doubled, Rosario scored two runs.

Jehisbert Sevilla, Erick Brito and Kliubert Avila each had two hits. Brito and Avila each doubled. RH Giuseppe Velasquez pitched four innings ( 0 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 K’s ).

Alfredo Alderete went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Yemil Rosario had two hits including a double, run scored and an RBI. Marco Soto doubled, scored a run and had an RBI.


RH Diego Linares pitched 3 scoreless innings ( 2 H, 0 BB, 5 K’s ) … RH Douglass Mijares went two innings ( 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K ).
