Notes :

The Phillies have now scored 32 runs in the first inning ... that’s tops in the National League and only the Houston Astros have scored more first inning runs ( 39 ) this season.

The Phillies have the highest first inning team batting average (.302) with Gabe Kapler’s SF Giants second at .298.

This was the second game of the season they have blown a 6-0 lead.

Jean Segura had four hits ( 17th time in his career ) with five RBIs ( career high )

Life in the Minors :

Today’s Mets starting pitcher David Peterson pitched in the AA Eastern League last season for Binghamton. He faced the Reading Fightin’s just once ... on July 16th and pitched only 3 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs on 8 hits. Austin Bossart and Josh Stephen hit home runs against him.

Fast Tracking :

The Phillies have had six players make their major league debut this season ( Ramon Rosso, Conor Brogdon, Spencer Howard, Alec Bohm, Jo Jo Romero and Mauricio Llovera ). Three of the six never played at the AAA level, last season three played their highest level at Reading and all six spent at least part of the season at Reading. Only Llovera has spent more than four seasons in the minor leagues, he signed in 2015 ... Romero was a 2016 draft pick, Brogdon and Howard were products of the 2017 draft, Rosso was signed by the Phillies in 2017 and Bohm was selected in 2018. That tidbit for you “Bring em Up” folks 🤓.

Alternate Training Site Action :

From @Kram207 on Twitter who is the go to correspondent for Allentown Camp action ...

Mickey Moniak had two doubles today and is 3 for 10 thus far in Camp action. All three of his hits are doubles.

Adam Morgan tossed an inning and had two K’s.

Luke Williams got a hit in his first at bat since Spring Training 👊🏻.

Ronald Torreyes played the entire scrimmage on defense in center field ... he’s the just in case fella it would seem.

Rafael Marchan is with the big club as the Taxi Squad catcher ... RHP Adonis Medina seems to be the likely choice as the 29th man for the Tuesday doubleheader against Boston.

Other News :

Speedster Billy Hamilton has been claimed off waivers by the Cubs from the Mets.

Coming Attractions :

Still working on the new book “Life in the Minors” co-authored with Larry Shenk ... with input from Cheryl Pursell, Michael Dill, Mark Wylie, George Youngs Jr and Jim Peyton. Some exciting news in that regard ... the book will include multiple interviews from Phillies players about their days in the Minors ... including Mike Schmidt, Larry Bowa, Dick Allen, Rick Wise, Greg Luzinski, Dickie Noles and current players such as Kendall Simmons, Darrick Hall, Damon Jones, Kyle Young, Ben Brown, etc.

For those who have interest I’m also working on a couple articles for this week ... one on the Rule 5 Draft and another on 2021 minor league projections ...

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
