9/8/23 : Minor League Roundup

International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 11 (38-23, 74-60)  Buffalo 2 (34-25, 68-66)

Buffalo, NY - Sahlen Field


Summary :


Kody Clemens doubled in the first inning, stole third and scored on a groundout by Weston Wilson.


Kody Clemens tripled in the third inning, he scored on Weston Wilson’s 30th home run of the season.  Dustin Peterson doubled and scored on a double by Aramis Garcia.  Cal Stevenson walked, Jim Haley doubled to score two runs.


Two singles and two walks scored a run for Buffalo in the fifth inning.


Scott Kingery doubled in the sixth inning and scored on a single by Weston Wilson.


Buffalo scored a run in the seventh inning on a walk, hit batter and single.


Kody Clemens walked in the ninth inning, he scored on Weston Wilson’s 31st home run of the season. 😳👀.  Darick Hall singled, Simon Muzziotti reached on an error, Aramis Garcia singled.  Cal Stevenson singled to score Hall.  At this point Buffalo brought in catcher Stevie Berman to pitch.   Jim Haley grounded out to score a run.


On the Hill :


Michael Plassmeyer went four and two third innings, one run, three hits, three walks, five strikeouts. Jeremy Walker pitched one and a third innings, no runs, three hits, two strikeouts.  Tyler McKay went one third of an inning, one run, one hit, two hit batters, one walk, one strikeout.  Taylor Lehman retired both batters he faced, one by strikeout and stranded three inherited runners.  Yunior Marte pitched a scoreless frame, one walk, two strikeouts.  Hector Perez finished with a perfect inning, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


Weston Wilson homered twice (30th and 31st ) breaking the franchise single season record, he was previously tied with Rhys Hoskins.  He had three hits and six RBIs.  Darick Hall, Aramis Garcia had three hits and Kody Clemens had two hits.  Clemens, Dustin Peterson, Garcia, Jim Haley and Scott Kingery doubled.  Clemens tripled.

Rafael Marchan missed the first third of the season rehabbing from a broken hamate, but has made up for lost time of late. In his past 18 games prior to tonight, Marchan has slashed .367/.473/.567 for a 1.040 OPS with nine doubles, a homer, and 16 RBI.

Completion of suspended game from 9/7/23


Summary :


Marcus Lee Sang walked in the first inning, Carlos De La Cruz hit a two run home run.


The game went into lightning delay in the top of the third inning and was eventually suspended.

The game resumed today at this point.


Roman Anthony homered for Portland in the third inning.


Baron Radcliff homered in the bottom of the fourth inning.


Madison Stokes homered in the sixth inning.


Two singles and a sac fly scored a run for Portland in the seventh inning.


Nick Ward walked and stole second base in the eighth inning.  He scored on a single by Ethan Wilson.


On the Hill :


Matt Osterberg pitched two and one third innings on Thursday in the original start time of the game, no runs, one hit.  David Parkinson pitched well going four innings, two runs, four hits, two walks, three strikeouts.  McKinley Moore pitched the eighth inning, no runs, one hit, one walk, two strikeouts.  Orion Kerkering finished, one inning, no runs, two hits.


At the Bat :


Carlos De La Cruz, Baron Radcliff and Madison Stokes each hit home runs.  De La Cruz had two RBIs and also walked twice.


Notes :

Tonight was David Parkinson’s 100th appearance as a Phillies minor league pitcher, with his three strikeouts he eclipsed 500 K’s in his career (now has 501). Two milestones in one night!



Game Two :  Portland 6 Reading 0


Summary :


The game’s start was delayed by rain.


Chase Meidroth homered in the first inning for Portland.


Two walks, a double and a throwing error scored three runs for Portland in the fifth inning.


Two singles, two walks and a couple wild pitches scored two runs for Portland in the seventh inning.


On the Hill :


Adam Leverett went three innings, one run, three hits, two walks, one strikeout.  Cristian Hernandez pitched an inning, no runs, one hit, one walk, three strikeouts.  Andrew Baker pitched an inning, three runs - two earned, one hit, three walks.  Keylan Killgore pitched two innings, two runs, three hits, two walks, one strikeout.


At the Bat :


The team was held to three singles.

Chad Castillo singled in the second inning, he scored on a double by Troy Schreffler.


Bryson Ware singled in the fourth inning and advanced to second on an error, he scored on s single by Jordan Dissin.  Raylin Heredia hit his first Thresher’s home run to score Dissin.


A double, walk and two singles scored two runs for Palm Beach in the sixth.


Zach Arnold homered in the eighth inning.  Chad Castillo singled and went to third on a double by Raylin Heredia, he scored on a groundout by Troy Schreffler.  Emaarion Boyd singled to score Heredia.


On the Hill :


Estibenzon Jimenez was very strong once again, five scoreless innings, three hits, one walk, three strikeouts.  Cam Brown pitched an inning, three runs, three hits, one walk, one strikeout.  Brayden Tucker pitched two innings, no runs, one hit, two walks, one strikeout.  Josh Bortka finished it with a perfect inning.


At the Bat :


Raylin Heredia had two hits (double and home run), Chad Castillo had two singles. Emaarion Boyd had two hits and stole his 55th base of the season.  Troy Schreffler doubled.  Zach Arnold homered.
