Fall Instructs - Day Four
An energy day in camp today - after morning drills concluded the stereo speakers were brought out onto the overhead platforms and the music blared as the end of the day hitting contest ensued.
Hitters were divided into teams of three with four teams squaring off against each other in match play on Roberts Field and another four on Carlton Field. It seemed like a version of HORSE where the coach would yell out the game situation - e.g. runner on third with less than two outs and the hitter got one swing to produce the desired result - if they failed then a hitter from the opposing squad got a turn till a winner emerged.
The two team finalists met on Carlton Field with the trio of Justin Crawford, Gustavo Sosa & Dakota Kotowski facing Hao Yu Lee, Darium Gutierrez & Bryan Rincon. Lee/Gutierrez/Rincon prevailed as most of the other players in camp including the coaches and front office personnel gathered around the cage. It was a fun exercise with many loud moments of oos and ahs when successful hits were delivered - especially the long drives beyond the fences of which there were plenty.
Pitchers threw on the seven mounds this morning however it was difficult to tell whom as can’t see that area from where we are allowed to be within the complex. I did see that Eduar Segovia was one of them - hard throwing right hander coming back from shoulder issues.
