Tuesday, 6/7 : Minor League Roundup


International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 5 ( 32-24 ) vs Omaha 1 ( 27-26 ) - called - seven innings


Papillon, NE - Werner Park


Summary :


Omaha scored in the first inning on a sac fly by Vinnie Pasquantino.


Drew Maggi walked in the fourth inning, stole second base and scored on an RBI single by Darick Hall.


Ali Castillo singled in the fifth inning, went to second on a single by Herbert Iser and scored on a single by Dalton Guthrie.


Jorge Bonifacio singled in the 6th inning and went to second when Rafael Marchan reached on an error. Will Toffey bunted them both up a base. Ali Castillo singled to score two runs. Castillo scored later in the inning from third base on a throwing error by the Omaha catcher.


The game went into weather delay ( rain ) in the middle of the seventh inning. It was eventually called.


On The Hill :


RH Corey Oswalt - 2 2/3 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 K - 48 pitches - 25 strikes

Summary :


Jared Carr & Ethan Wilson singled in the third inning, Carr went to third on a fielders choice ground out by Johan Rojas. Rixon Wingrove singled to score Carr.


Johan Rojas singled in the 8th inning, stole second base and scored on a single by Rixon Wingrove.


Hudson Valley scored three runs in the 8th inning. Erubiel Armenta gave up a single and walk to begin the inning, he was replaced by Jason Ruffcorn. Cooper Bowman walked to lead the bases. Trey Sweeney reached on a fielders choice ground out to score a run. Sweeney then stole second base and a throwing error by catcher Anthony Quirion allowed the runner on third base to score and Sweeney to go to third base. Everson Pereira doubled to score Sweeney.


Baron Radcliff walked with one out in the top of the ninth and DJ Stewart singled to send him to third when his ground ball hit the second base bag. A 1-4-3 double play ended the game.


On The Hill :


RH Kyle Glogoski - 5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 8 K’s - 66 pitches - 45 strikes - he was excellent - great command and mix

RH Andrew Schultz - 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 15 pitches - 9 strikes

LH Erubiel Armenta - 1 + IP, 2 R, 1 H, 3 BB, 1 K - 30 pitches - 16 strikes

RH Jason Ruffcorn - 1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K’s - 21 pitches - 9 strikes

Rixon Wingrove had three hits and two RBIs.


Notes :


Hudson Valley has a turf field, rains fell relatively steady and it was very windy yet the game was able to continue.

Florida State League ( Low A ) - Clearwater 4 ( 27-24 ) Bradenton 2 ( 23-29 )


Bradenton, FL - LECOM Park


Summary :

Rodolfo Nolasco socked an RBI triple in the third inning for Bradenton to score Luke Brown ( walked ).


Leandro Pineda doubled to score Marcus Lee Sang ( singled ) in the top of the fourth inning.


Eiberson Castellano hit the first two batters he faced in the fourth inning - Carlos Betancourt came in and struck out the side to get out of the jam, Betancourt used his big sweeping curve ball to gets swings and misses.


Bradenton scored a run in the fifth inning as Sergio Campagna walked, went to second on a sacrifice bunt, to third on a fly ball to deep center field and scored on an infield single by Jase Bowen.


Jadiel Sanchez led off the 8th inning with a home run to right field. Marcus Lee Sang walked, stole second base and scored on a single to right field by Arturo De Freitas.


Wilfredo Flores doubled in the ninth inning, he scored on a double by Jadiel Sanchez.


On The Hill :


RH Eiberson Castellano - 3 + IP, 1 R, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 HB, 5 K’s - 53 pitches - 29 strikes - hit first two batters faced in the fourth inning and was removed.


RH Carlos Betancourt - 2 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 4 K’s - 25 pitches - 18 strikes

LH Jordan Fowler - 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 21 pitches - 16 strikes

RH Konnor Ash - 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K - 14 pitches - 7 strikes

Leandro Pineda had two doubles and has reached base safely in 12 consecutive games. Marcus Lee Sang had two hits including a drag bunt single. Jadiel Sanchez had three hits including a double and home run. Wilfredo Flores doubled.


Defensive Gems :


C Arturo DeFreitas threw out another would be base stealer, his pop time and accuracy make him a true defensive weapon behind the plate.

Before the game infielder Hao Yu Lee was placed on the seven day IL.
