An 11 AM start today and a seven inning scrimmage … we were once again on hand at our Ashburn Field right field line viewing space 🤓.
At the Plate :
Seventeen year old outfielder Yemal Flores smoked a three run home run that hit off the scoreboard in right center field 💪. He’s a well built young man … he also made a nice catch against the right field fence defensively. First time we’ve seen him swing the bat today, hit it with authority on the tater.
Ethan Wilson continues to swing well, two more singles today. Rixon Wingrove hit two doubles. Rickardo Perez doubled while Jared Carr & Anthony Quirion each tripled.
Jamari Baylor, Erick Brito and Gavin Tonkel each singled. Tonkel beat out a bunt dropped to the third base line.
On the Hill :
Most of the innings started with runners on base and multiple frames were “last At Bat “ simulations therefore not every inning was a complete three out standard 🥴 … it’s Instructs … a time to practice all scenarios 🤓. I’ll call the innings frames instead to indicate the number of times each hurler took the mound.
RH Griff McGarry - two frames - two strikeouts & two hits allowed
RH Konnor Ash - two frames - six hits, 1 BB, 1 K
LH JP Woodward - two frames, picked off a runner at 1B, 1 HR against & 1 K
LH Erubiel Armenta - one frame - walked first two batters, struck out next three 🔥
RH Alex Garbrick - two frames - 1 hit, 2 K’s
RH Jason Ruffcorn - two frames - two strikeouts, two walks, one hit allowed
LH Jake McKenna - two frames - one walk, two strikeouts, no hits allowed - best we’ve seen him throw
Other Notes :
Jo Jo Romero had a catch on Schmidt Field’s right field warning track area with a protective sleeve on, looked to have thrown about 20 or so tosses. Working his way back from TJ surgery. Yesterday Roman Quinn ran training sprints in the same area with a harness around his waist and a trainer holding him back, resistance training I believe it’s called … he’s diligently working his way back from an Achilles injury. Best wishes to each young man on a full recovery.
