After a morning filled with infield and outfield drills and batting practice as well as multiple pitchers throwing bullpens on the seven mounds - six hurlers threw live BP in the afternoon before practice wrapped up.
Erick Brito and Casey Martin both continue to catch our attention in infield drills, both have good reaction and to the ball movement, soft hands and strong arms - especially stood out today on double play turns from the shortstop position.
Andrew Schultz, Matt Seelinger and Brian Marconi threw in order on Ashburn Field while Zach Warren, Braedon Ogle and Jeff Singer threw consecutively on Roberts Field.
Johan Rojas continues to shine in camp, he hammered a breaking ball deep over the left field fence on Ashburn in live BP and later delivered a well hit gap drive to left center field. He also made a diving catch in center field during regular BP, the young man plays hard on every play whether it’s practice or not 👍.
Camp Spotlight :
Johan Rojas - 21 years old - signed as an international free agent - 1/18/18 - San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic. 2021 was a solid season for the very talented Rojas - 18 doubles, 4 triples, 11 home runs, 52 RBIs and 34 stolen bases in 96 games ( FCL, Clearwater & Jersey Shore ) - 381 AB’s. He also came to Fall Instructs for a couple weeks where we saw him finish the season. Has all the tools to advance to the majors and excel when he gets there. Perhaps has a real chance to begin the year with Reading, initially I thought he’d be targeted for Jersey Shore. I’m sure that he’s made quite the impression the past couple weeks of mini camp.

We need another hard-diving CF a la Garry Maddox or Lenny Dykstra! A valuable commodity and just plain fun to watch.
