Zach Wheeler came out firing today ( FB 95-99 mph according to stadium gun ) ... he struggled with location though, hung a curve ball that got hammered for a grand slam ... yielded 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in 2 + IP. Zach pitched into the third inning, striking out the only batter he faced that frame. 49 pitches - 30 strikes ... 4 K’s. The second inning was rolled with two outs.
JD Hammer finished the third inning by retiring the only two batters he faced. He struck out Giancarlo Stanton. JD’s fastball sat 97-98 ( stadium gun ) and he used a hammer hook to punch out Giancarlo 😂.
Ivan Nova threw 28 pitches ( 18 strikes ) to get thru a scoreless fourth inning. He issued one walk and another batter reached on a throwing error by Didi Gregorius. Ivan tossed 18 pitches in the 5th inning yielding a double and walk, no runs allowed. Nova’s FB sat in the 92-94 range.
Bryan Mitchell pitched the sixth inning, he was 94-97 mph with his fastball. He gave up a single and a walk but yielded no runs , continues to impress ... 14 pitches ( 10 strikes ).
Brandon Kintzler ( 91-93 mph sinker ) tossed a perfect seventh inning needing just 10 pitches - 8 strikes & that included one strikeout 😳.
Tony Watson ( 89-90 mph sinker ) struck out two batters in the 8th inning in his spring debut ... nasty changeup and slider shown today. 23 pitches - 12 strikes - one walk allowed.
At The Plate : Phillies were held to five hits
Matt Joyce had two singles in two at bats.
Andrew Knapp and Roman Quinn each singled.
Mickey Moniak lined a sharp single into right field in his only AB. He’s now 4 for 8 ( .500 ) this spring.

Mini Camp players on the roster today included pitchers David Parkinson and JD Hammer, Catcher Logan O’Hoppe and Infielders Luke Williams, Luis Garcia and Bryson Stott, outfielders Matt Vierling and Johan Rojas.
In the sixth inning Luis Garcia subbed into second base, Bryson Stott at shortstop, Johan Rojas in left field, Matt Vierling in right field and Luke Williams at first base. In addition Mickey Moniak came into center field, CJ Chatham at third base and Christian Bethancourt behind the dish.
Grapefruit League record is now 3-4-1
