5/25/21 : Comparable Data - IP & Pitches

Each organization has their guard up on attempting to make sure minor league pitchers aren’t overextended coming off a year of inactivity. However they aren’t uniform in the lengths as to how they are doing so. Here’s a comparison of the three lower level leagues the Phillies have affiliates in, I omitted Triple A as intentional restrictions at that level aren’t as robust, many of those players participated in both big league spring training and alternate camp before the season and over the course of those two months were fully stretched out.

The data is thru three weeks of play in regards to starting pitchers and the average amount of innings and pitches each team has been allowing/receiving over the first three weeks of the season. Following is a glimpse of the Low A Southeast, High A East ( North Division ) and Double A Northeast leagues. It’s only data, there are no miracles ... just a glimpse of each club’s approach ... of course performance factors in as well, in many starts the intent was for the pitcher to go further but they exited early due to inability to record outs effectively ... I left those early exits in the averages calculated as it was to much to decipher what was performance related or planned removals ...

It’s also noted that the Phillies are using piggyback tandems at both low and high A ... even at double A for some of the rotation slots.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
