6/10/24 : Minor League Roundup

Florida Complex League - FCL Phillies 11 (16-11) FCL Yankees 10 (16-11)  

Clearwater, FL - Carpenter Complex


Summary :


A double, single and ground out scored a run for the Yankees in the second inning, a home run by Joel Mendez scored another.


Guillermo Rosario reached on a throwing error in the bottom of the second inning, he advanced to third on another error and a balk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jorge Garcia.


Josue Gonzalez hit a two run home run for the Yankees in the 3rd inning.


Jerffson Peña homered in the bottom of the third.


Guillermo Rosario walked in the 4th inning, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Juan Villavicencio.  An errant pickoff throw advanced Villavicencio who then scored on a single by Jerffson Peña.


Joel Mendez hit a two run home run for the Yankees in the 6th inning, a triple and double scored another run.


Starlyn Caba was hit by a pitch in the 7th inning, he stole second base, Junior Marin walked.  Eduardo Tait hit a three run home run.


The Yankees scored twice in the 8th inning on a hit batter, triple and single.


Rickardo Perez homered in the bottom of the 8th inning.


A double, single and sacrifice fly scored a run for the Yankees in the 9th inning.


The Phillies came up clutch in the bottom of the 9th - Junior Marin singled and scored when Eduardo Tait hit his second home run of the game - a shot over the right field fence!  Guillermo Rosario, Ezra Farmer and Juan Villavicencio singled (Villavicencio on a bunt).  Rickardo Perez singled for the game winning walk off hit!


At Bat : 11 R, 13 H, 4 BB, 12 K’a


Eduardo Tait hit two home runs and had five RBIs.  Jerffson Peña (single & HR, stolen base), Rickardo Perez (single & HR - 2 RBIs), Guillermo Rosario (two singles, three runs scored), and Juan Villavicencio (two singles) each had two knocks. Starlyn Caba singled and walked and stole three bases.


On The Hill : 10 R, 17 H, 4 BB, 4 K’s


Pedro Reyes pitched five innings - 4 RBI, 7 H, 2 BB, 1 K.   Alexis De La Cruz pitched 2 innings - 3 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s.  Claudio Gatier pitched two innings - 3 R, 5 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s


Dominican Summer League - Twins 11 (2-3) Phillies Red 10 (2-2) - seven innings

Twins Complex


Summary :


The Twins scored three runs in the first inning on two singles and two doubles.


Cesar Mujica doubled in the 2nd inning, Adrian Garcia singled.  Yonkelvin Polanco hit a sacrifice fly to score a run.


A double and single scored a run for the Twins in the bottom of the second.


Brahian Silva walked in the third and scored on a double by Alirio Ferrebus.


Two doubles scored a run for the Twins in the bottom of the third.


Renair Manrique doubled in the 5th, Brahian Silva walked, Esterling Rodriguez singled.  Meylin De Leon walked to score a run.

Alirio Ferrebus singled to score two runs. Cesar Mujica reached on a fielders choice, De Leon scored.


Three walks and a sacrifice fly scored a run for the Twins in the 5th inning.


The Phillies scored four runs in the seventh - the bases were loaded on a hit batter and two walks in- Adrian Garcia cleared them with a triple. He later scored on a wild pitch.


The Twins scored five runs in the bottom of the 7th for the walk-off win - four walks and a triple scored the first four runs - the game winner came across on an RBI single.


On The Hill : 11 R, 11 H, 8 BB, 8 K’s


Raymon Rosario started and pitched 4 innings - 5 R, 8 H, 0 BB, 3 K’s.  Pedro Peralta pitched an inning - 1 R, 0 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s.  Darling Reyes went one inning - 3 R, 1 H, 4 BB, 3 K’s.  Rene Yrish yielded two runs on two hits and a walk - he faced 3 batters and didn’t record an out.


At Bat :


Alirio Ferrebus (single & double) and Adrian Garcia (double & triple) each had two hits and three RBIs. Cesar Mujica and Renair Manrique doubled.


Dominican Summer League - Mets Blue 7 (1-4) Phillies White 2 (1-3) - seven innings

Phillies Complex


Summary :


The Mets scored six runs in the second inning on four walks, a single, two triples, an error and wild pitch.  They added a run in the third on two singles.


Victor Cardoza singled in the 4th inning, advanced when Jose Familia reached on a fielding error and scored on a single by Josueth Quinonez.  Familia scored on a sacrifice fly by Santiago Prado.


On The Hill : 7 R, 8 H, 5 BB, 8 K’s


Jeffrey German pitched 1.2 innings - 5 R - 3 earned, 4 H, 3 BB, 2 K’s.  Jorge Guzman went 1.1 innings - 2 R, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s. Gelson Carpio pitched three scoreless innings - 0 H, 1 BB, 2 K’s. Elicier Bata pitched an inning - 0 R, 0 H, 1 K.


At Bat : 2 R, 5 H, 3 BB, 8 K’s


Josueth Quinonez had two hits (singles).  Anderson Navas doubled.


System Transactions :


Lehigh Valley : RHP Beau Burrows released.


Clearwater : LHP Mavis Graves placed on Development List.


FCL : LHP Claudio Gatier & RHP Orlando Gonzalez transferred from DSL Phillies Red (retroactive to 6/9).  OF Jorge Garcia (Single-A Clearwater 60-day IL) and OF Ricardo Rosario (High-A Jersey Shore 7-day IL) beginning a minor league rehab assignment.


Orlando Gonzalez is 21 years old and is from Mexico - he was signed on 7/29/23 by the Phillies having previously pitched for Saltillo in the Mexican League where he appeared in 31 games (2 starts) amassing 44 IP.  His fastball range this year in training camp at the Dominican Academy was 92-95 mph.  Claudio Gatier is 22 years old who is primarily a fastball/change up reliever with the heater in the 89-92 mph range.  He was signed by the Phillies on 4/27/22 from the Dominican Republic. He’s appeared in 16 DSL games (2 starts) and has pitched 31 innings with a 3.77 ERA.
