8/20/2020 : Blue Jays 9 ( 13-11 ) Phillies 8 ( 9-12 ) - DH Game Two - Seven Innings

Game Notes :

Andrew McCutchen and Rhys Hoskins led off the game with bloop singles to the outfield. Bryce Harper walked to load the bases. Didi Gregorius blooped a single to left center field to score McCutchen. Alec Bohm lined a single to right field to score Hoskins. Neil Walker hit a one out sac fly to center field to score Harper. With two outs Andrew Knapp hit a ground rule double that hopped over the left field wall to score Gregorius. That was it for Blue Jays starter Trent Thornton who went just 2/3 of an inning.

Ex Phillie Jacob Waguespack came in for Toronto. He hit Scott Kingery on the hand to re-load the bases. Andrew McCutchen doubled to clear the bases and make it 7-0 Phillies !

Teoscar Hernandez hit a two run homer for Toronto in the bottom of the first inning against Vince Velasquez.

Rowdy Tellez hit a monstrous home run to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning for the Blue Jays. After Hernandez singled the skipper lifted Velasquez ... Connor Brogdon came in, he walked the first batter he faced and then gave up a three run home run to Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Brogdon got Joe Panik to ground out and the skipper went to the pen once again.

Hector Neris came in ... got two ground balls that should have been outs but Scott Kingery made a throwing error on the first and Didi Gregorius a fielding error on the second ... then with two outs Neris threw a wild pitch that allowed the tying run to score 🤦‍♂️. Rowdy Tellez singled to center field to score two more runs ... that was it for Neris.

Reggie McClain finished the inning.

Vince Velasquez’s final line - 5 + ... 4 R, 5 H, 2 BB, 7 K’s ... 90 pitches - 58 strikes.

After the first inning the Phillies bats were silent ... till with two outs in the top of the seventh when Didi Gregorius singled and Alec Bohm doubled off the center field wall ... it set up a pinch hitting appearance by JT Realmuto who got an infield single to score Gregorius. Roman Quinn struck out to end the game.

Embarrassing performance today in Buffalo by the squad in red and gray ... no other way to say it.

Record is now 9-12
