8/26/2020 : The Day in Review

The Phillies Game : Phillies 3 ( 12-14 ) Nationals 2 ( 11-17 )

Aaron Nola went seven solid innings ... the skipper gave him some rope allowing the ace to toss 113 pitches ... he left with a 3-2 lead and 8 K’s 🤛.

Tommy Hunter was excellent in pitching a perfect eighth inning.

Brandon Workman pitched into and out of trouble to finish in the ninth for the save. He stranded two runners on base by striking out the last two batters of the game.

It was Joe Girardi’s 1,000th win as a Manager ... he becomes the 65th in MLB history to do so.

The Offense

Rhys Hoskins hit a solo home run. Didi Gregorius tripled and was knocked in by Alec Bohm with a clutch single in the seventh inning.

Roman Quinn utilized his speed once again, he scored from second on a bloop single to left field by Bryce Harper that most runners would not have been able to score on.

Protests

The Brewers and Reds joined with the NBA in cancelling their scheduled game to protest systemic racial injustice in light of the Jacob Blake shooting. Later the Padres/Mariners and Giants/Dodgers games were also cancelled for the same purpose.

Players on other teams also intentionally sat out ... Matt Kemp, Jayson Heyward, Jack Flaherty and Dexter Fowler.

Good Night ...
