Overcast skies and wet grounds limited on field activities this morning while I was at the Complex.  Players were out for a few individualized drills however all the work was done in the outfield areas.  There’s a drill with a football that we saw Gabriel Rincones & Jordan Viars working on - from my perspective it’s designed to help with other the shoulder catches and route running on fly balls.

A few of the pitchers were out on Carlton Field for stretching and long tossing - multiple players went thru warmups and sprints on Roberts Field.  Hitting was likely indoors in the Montgomery Center as tarps covered the home plate area on all four fields.

We left at around 12:30 or so - will check back tomorrow.  The weather cleared a bit this afternoon so there is the chance some actives took place after I left 🤷‍♂️🧐.

The Phillies Player Development site posted the camp roster - see below.

Domincan Summer League ( DSL ) Contingent

The roster includes 7 pitchers, 1 infielder and 3 outfielders from the Dominican Academy.  Infielder Marco Soto ( 18 yrs old ) is the youngest player in the contingent - he had a very solid season played for Phillies Red and was transferred to the Phillies White roster for the playoff/championship run.   Jorge Garcia ( a league all-star ), Raylin Heredia ( championship series star ) and Darium Gutierrez ( power bat from Cuba ) are outfielders who stood out this summer in the DSL brought up for camp.

RHP Jonh Henriquez is in the group - he was consistently in the upper 90’s this season - a power arm discovery this summer.  RHP Jesus Querales was selected to play in the 2022 DSL All-Star game - he performed as a closer this season - arsenal features a fastball that can run into the mid nineties.  RHP Saul Teran and RHP Pedro Reyes are two more pitchers that have displayed mid nineties fastballs and RHP Fernando Ortega is a big fella ( 6’5” ) that’s shown pitch mixes that are intriguing.

RHP Danyony Pulido features a FB sitting in the 91 to 93 mph range and has shown flashes that go higher along with a slider and curve.  RHP Luis Gomez appeared in 14 games for DSL Red - 5 as a starter.

A couple BlueClaws :

Infielder Hao Yu Lee who missed time this summer due to injury and is just 19 years old is in camp for more reps to finish the season.  Catcher Anthony Quirion is also in camp, he too had a bit of down time this summer due to a hand injury.

FCL Guys :

Outfielders Jordan Viars, Yemal Flores and Gavin Tonkel are all in camp as is infielder Nikau Pouaka-Grego - all are teenagers.

LHP  Samuel Aldegheri is also here - the hurler from Italy lost a good bit of the season to injury so being in camp will make up for lost time.

Draft Picks & Undrafted Free Agents :

All the new additions from the draft or signed as an UDFA are in camp - those not listed on the roster release are part of the rehab group that continue their recovery work.

Rehab work :

Players on rehab aren’t listed on the roster but there are plenty of them here working - see yesterday’s article I posted for an idea as to whom is here.

Camp runs thru 10/17 - we will get to the complex for as many days as we can.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
