International League ( AAA ) - Lehigh Valley 4 ( 32-24 ) vs Omaha 2 ( 27-27 )


Papillon, NE - Werner Park


Summary :


Ivan Castillo homered for Omaha in the first inning.


Vinnie Pasquantino hit his 16th home run of the season in the 3rd inning to make it 2-0 Omaha.


Dustin Peterson hit a three run home run in the fifth inning scoring Rafael Marchan ( walked ) and Yairo Munoz ( singled ) in front of him. Ali Castillo & Daulton Guthrie singled followed by walks to Darick Hall & Jorge Bonifacio with Guthrie scoring.


On The Hill :


RH Michael Mariot - 3 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 K’s - 79 pitches - 44 strikes

Game One : Altoona 4 Reading 0


Summary :


Altoona scored a run in the second inning as they loaded the bases with a single, hit by pitch and walk. Andres Alvarez walked to force in a run.


They scored twice in the third frame - Liover Peguero reached on an error, he tried to score when Matt Fraizer doubled to right field by RF’er Hunter Markwardt threw him out at the plate. Brent Citta singled to score Fraizer. Lolo Sanchez later singled to score Citta.


Blake Sabol homered for Altoona in the top of the seventh inning.


On The Hill :


RH James McArthur - 5 IP, 3 R, 7 H, 3 BB, 7 K’s - 97 pitches - 61 strikes

RH Jack Perkins - 2 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 32 pitches - 21 strikes

Jhailyn Ortiz had the lone hit, a single. Jack Conley walked twice.


Game Two : Reading 6 Altoona 1


Summary :


Logan O’Hoppe hit a home run in the third inning for the game’s first run.


Altoona tied the game in the fifth on an RBI single by Jared Triolo. Third baseman Albert Jerez ( whom I’ve touted as having one of not the best infielder’s throwing arm in the system ) made a terrific throw to the plate on a slow grounder to him to get a runner trying to score in the inning.


Albert Jerez singled in the bottom of the sixth inning, went to third on a single by Vito Friscia and scored on a two out single by Josh Ockimey. Logan O’Hoppe was intentionally walked to load the bases, Aldrem Corredor made them pay with a grand slam home run !


On The Hill :

Logan O’Hoppe, Vito Friscia, Aldrem Corredor & Jack Conley each had two hits. O’Hoppe was intentionally walked in the sixth inning to load the bases. Jack Conley doubled and Logan O’Hoppe homered. Aldrem Corredor hit a grand slam. Vito Friscia also walked twice.


Notes :


With a walk in the first game and his single in the first inning of the second game Logan O’Hoppe extended his on base streak to 21 games.

South Atlantic League ( High A ) - Hudson Valley ( 25-28 ) Jersey Shore ( 21-31 )- Doubleheader


Wappinger Falls, NY - Dutchess Stadium


Game One : Jersey Shore 2 Hudson Valley 1


Summary :


Hudson Valley scored in the fourth inning, Cooper Bowman walked and went to second on a single by Trey Sweeney. Carlo Reyes replaced starter Dominic Pipkin at that point. Bowman advanced to third on a fly out to center field. He then scored on a sac fly to left field by Anthony Siegler.

Carlos De La Cruz homered with two outs in the seventh inning to tie the game. DJ Stewart singled, stole second and scored the game winning run on a single by Freylin Minyety ! Jersey Shore celebrated a walk off win on Hudson Valley’s field, they were the home team in this game - a make up contest that had been rained out on May 7th at Jersey Shore.


On The Hill :


RH Dominic Pipkin - 3 + IP, 1 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 3 K’s - 45 pitches - 23 strikes - threw well in 1st start - 95-97 mph FB

RH Carlo Reyes - 3 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K’s - 1 inherited runner scored - 41 pitches - 26 strikes

LH JP Woodward - 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 K’s - 17 pitches - 8 strikes

Casey Martin had two hits. Carlos De La Cruz homered.


Game Two : Jersey Shore 2 Hudson Valley 1


Summary :


Jersey Shore scored twice in the third inning, Karl Ellison & Uziel Viloria each drew walks. They both moved up a base on a wild pitch and yet another on a second wild pitch with Ellison scoring. Ethan Wilson doubled to right field on a ball the fielder dove for and couldn’t come up with - Viloria scored.


Hudson Valley scored a run in the 5th - Pat DeMarco singled, went to second on a wild pitch, to third on a fly out and scored on a sac fly.


Griff McGarry was outstanding - fastball was in the 96 to 98 mph range consistently with great moment and he threw secondary pitches with great command !


Aidan Anderson closed it out to complete the doubleheader sweep.


On The Hill :

Notes :


Between innings throughout the games the Hudson Valley interns dressed in different character costumes and had multiple races along the first base line with eliminations. It was fun to watch as different “interferences” took place. In the finals “Princess” defeated “Minion” and the section of the stands she represented got free tickets to a future game 🤓. Only in minor league baseball !

Florida State League ( Low A ) - Clearwater 4 ( 28-24 ) Bradenton 2 ( 23-30 )


Bradenton, FL - LECOM Park


Summary :


Kendall Simmons homered over the left field wall in the 4th inning. Marcus Lee Sang singled, went to second on a balk and scored on a double by Andrik Nava ( he actually lost his bat on the hit and still drove the ball down the right field line 💪).


Bradenton scored a run in the fifth inning, Norkis Marcos tripled and scored on a single by Mike Jarvis. Jase Bowen walked in the sixth inning, stole second and third base and scored on a single by Wyatt Hendrie.


The Threshers scored twice in the top of the ninth inning with two outs. Marcus Lee Sang walked, Leandro Pineda was intentionally walked. Micah Yonamine doubled to right field to score them both.


Tommy McCollum dominated the ninth inning - striking out the side with 96-97 mph fastballs and a sharp slider. He entered the game in the 8th and struck out all four batters he faced 💪.


On The Hill :
