This Phillies off-season I will continue the series  “Annual Phillies Minor League Player Notes” with profiles presented in groupings by defensive positions for the players who were still part of the minor league player development program at season’s end. The notes will reflect statistics, my thoughts on each player and input from them and others as I have it. They are presented in order by position and then alphabet in groupings of players per article. Here’s Part Seven of the pitchers highlighting the following :

Braeden Fausnaught

Matthew Fisher

Luke Gabrysh

Marty Gair

Josbel Garcia

LH Braeden Fausnaught - 26 yrs old (27 on 7/2/26)  - signed as UDFA 8/1/22 - West Chester University , PA

2025 Stats :  appeared in 12 games (ten starts) totaling 52.2 IP with a 4.61 ERA - 52 K’s, 17 BB - 64% strike percentage and 2.51 K/BB ratio. Went on the IL on 6/19 and didn’t return to action thereafter instead spending the balance of the year at Carpenter Complex working with the rehab team.

2025 Notes :  He’s from Danville, PA and grew up as a Phillies fan. I first met him at Carpenter Complex shortly after he signed, it was evident from our first conversation and from those we’ve had thereafter that he is someone who works hard, takes nothing for granted and puts in a full effort to climb the ladder. He’s also got a great sense of humor and is a well regarded teammate.

Braeden is a battler on the mound - he features a fastball (90 to 93 mph), cutter, slider and changeup - produces outs with mix, consistency of delivery and arm slot along with good differentials in both pitch shape and velocity.  A throwback to the “crafty left hander” description - is not intimidated by any situation and has both started and pitched in bulk relief. Unfortunately he suffered an elbow injury this summer and eventually had Tommy John surgery, will likely miss the 2026 season working with the rehab group at the complex.

Braeden’s 2025 reflections : “ I learned a lot this season. Struggling a bit the first few outings I had to make an adjustment. I had to get back to being aggressive on the mound, an aggressive game plan and sticking to that. Also learning how to use my arsenal at a higher level. I had one really improved breaking ball this year and learning where and when to mix that in to get outs was really important for me in my development as a pitcher. How to continue to battle when things don’t go your way, my season ended abruptly in the middle of the year. I am looking forward to learning more about myself in the process of coming back from TJ. Getting healthy, coming back in great shape in the spring to move the needle forward for when I get out of rehab and feel fully healthy to throw either the end of next year or 2027. Excited to see the guys in spring camp and hopefully help make someone better for when we break camp and they head to their respective team.”

RH Matthew Fisher - 19 years old (20 on 3/14/26) - drafted in 7th rd of the 2025 draft from Memorial HS, Evansville, IN

2025 Stats :  did not pitch in a game after signing - instead worked at Carpenter Complex with other draftees in a draft player mini camp - he ended his camp throwing two side bullpens in late August. He posted a 6-0 record and a 0.76 ERA with 61 K’s and 11 walks in 36.2 IP during his senior season at Memorial High School in Evansville, Indiana.

2025 Notes :  I have yet to see him pitch in person - reportedly has a low to mid nineties fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. He was also an All-State HS quarterback and led his team to an undefeated season in 2024. During his senior year he was named the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference Player of the year in both football and baseball. He is the ninth graduate of Memorial HS to be chosen in the MLB Draft including Don Mattingly in 1979.  Fisher had committed to Indiana University prior to signing with the Phillies. Reportedly gets a ton of spin on his pitches - am eager to see him pitch in spring camp. He will participate in Fall High Performance Camp. I’d expect he breaks 2026 ST camp with the Clearwater Threshers.

RH Luke Gabrysh - 22 years old (23 on 4/16/25) - drafted in 15th round of the 2024 draft from St Joseph’s University, PA

2025 Stats :  began the year with Clearwater - appeared in 17 games (16 starts) recording a 3.08 ERA in 61.1 IP with 49 K’s and 25 walks - was promoted to Jersey Shore on 8/16 - pitched in 4 games (3 starts) with the BlueClaws totaling 17 IP with a 4.24 ERA - 10 K’s, 7 BB. Overall pitched 78.1 IP with a 3.33 ERA in 21 IP. Finished the year very strong - from July till his last start on 9/5 made 10 appearances (8 starts) totaling 41 IP with a 2.20 ERA with 31 K’s, 16 BB. Starting was new to him - at  St. Joseph’s University he appeared in 40 games (three starts) as a back end reliever accumulating 68.2 innings pitched with 55 strikeouts and 51 walks. He popped up even more on the scout’s radar though with his performance for the Trenton Thunder in the 2024 Draft League where in nine games he posted a 1.42 ERA in 12.2 IP with 23 K’s and 5 walks along with a stellar 0.868 WHIP.

2025 Notes :  He’s from Wilmington, Delaware and graduated from Concord High School where he earned First Team All-State and All-Conference honors as a shortstop while garnering Second Team All-State and First Team All-Conference accolades on the mound. Luke also excelled in basketball earning All-Conference honors on the court. He’s a lifelong Phillies fan who has attended many games at CBP with both family and friends. Luke has five pitch mix with a high spin slider with big horizontal movement, his four seam fastball and sinker both sit consistently at 92-95 mph. He’s a bulldog type competitor who gets after it, is fun to watch. Will participate in Fall High Performance Camp. Likely returns to Jersey Shore to begin 2026 with an eye towards Reading as the season progresses.

RH Marty Gair  - 22 years old (23 on 7/17/26) - drafted in 13th rd of the 2023 draft from Florida Southwestern State JC

2025 Stats :  appeared in 24 games (27 IP) with Clearwater recording a 4.33 ERA with 40 K’s and 34 walks - went on the IL on 8/21 and finished the year working with the rehab team at the complex. This was the first year he pitched in actual games as had begun working back from Tommy John surgery shortly after he signed in 2023.

2025 Notes :  big arm who was an under the radar draft choice and signing - big fella at 6’6” - over the top delivery - in college reached triple digits with his four seamer - very competitive, hard on himself at times, a perfectionist. With the Threshers his fastball was in the 94-99 mph range with a curve, slider, cutter and changeup.  Battled both command and control but showed strikeout stuff. With his delivery and velocity could develop into a weapon as a back end reliever - needs experience and to harness his strike throwing abilities - stuff plays. Should be ready to compete again in Spring Camp.

Pitching Coordinator Travis Hergert :   “Big carry/cut fastball.  Emphasis will be on developing a hard slider to go with his curve ball.”

RH Josbel Garcia  - 21 years old (22 on 3/30/26) - signed as international free agent 10/21/21 - Ciudad Bolivar, VZ

2025 Stats :  appeared in 16 games (22.1 IP) with the FCL Phillies posting a 5.64 ERA with 19 K’s and 6 walks - promoted to Clearwater on 8/16 - appeared in four games with the Threshers (8.1 IP) - first outing was a gem (3.2 scoreless frames) but struggled in the other three (4.2 IP - 9 runs, 11 hits) - chalk those to experience. Overall pitched 30.2 innings in 20 appearances (career high mark).

2025 Notes : features a four seam fastball (95-98 mph), sinker (92-94 mph), slider and cutter. He’s a power arm who has now spent two seasons stateside (mostly in the FCL) after a strong DSL 2023 campaign. I’ve seen him throw in person - throws hard but gets into situations where things snowball on him - most of the runs against him came in clusters where hits were strung together. Gets hurt by the long ball in those instances. Generally throws strikes and has high velo skills - if can obtain more movement on pitches and throw more quality strikes could develop. There certainly is a skillset to try to unleash.

Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
