Did ya know 🧐 ... in last night’s Clearwater Threshers/Lakeland Flying Tigers game the Automated Ball/Strike ( ABS ) system was used ... results where that 60 % of the pitches were called strikes and 40 % balls ... there were 11 combined free passes issued in the contest
In the other three Phillies affiliates games with humans calling balls and strikes ...
Jersey Shore - 61 % strikes 39 % balls - 13 combined free passes
Reading - 63 % strikes - 37 % balls - 8 combined free passes
Lehigh Valley - 66 % strikes - 34 % balls - 6 combined free passes
Just numbers to ponder is all ... no one barked at the umpire in Clearwater ... yes they did ... it was $ beer night 😂

The Flying Tigers scored three in the top of the eleventh. The Threshers would not be denied however as 1B DJ Stewart hit a walk-off grand slam home run for the win !
On The Hill :
RH Mick Abel went 2 1/3 innings - 4 R - 3 earned, 4 H, 2 BB, 2 K’s - fastball was in 96-98 range early innings and then 94-96 near the end ... left a few pitches up when the Flying Tigers scored three in the third - they hit em hard. Notes :
Johan Rojas has a really quick bat and the ball jumps ... in his first AB he appeared to get jammed but still drove the ball to the warning track in center field ... definitely one to be excited about. Catcher Abrahan Gutierrez threw out four would be base stealers at second base.
Happy Day, Happy Baseball ⚾️
