Now that we’ve concluded the minor league player profiles from last season it’s time to look forward. Shortly after the holidays multiple players will matriculate their way to Clearwater and Carpenter Complex to begin the grind of the 2023 season - to continue the ongoing pursuit of the dream to reach the major leagues - to feed the passion of persistence and protect the standard - to embrace the love of the game - to inhale the future and exhale the past.
In 2022 the Phillies had twelve players make their major league debuts ( Mark Appel, Tyler Cyr, Nick Duron, Dalton Guthrie, Darick Hall, Michael Kelly, Francisco Morales, Simon Muzziotti, Michael Plassmeyer, Bubby Rossman, Donny Sands & Bryson Stott ). The majority of these debuts were unpredictable prior to the season - the contributions made by each player had different impacts and perspectives as the team worked towards and reached the World Series.
It takes an entire army to succeed - it was really cool to see the Phillies reward all members of the organization when the club got to the ultimate final series of the season. An updated squad - equipped with a few new members - also absent of some who’ve moved on will begin the next journey. There’s little doubt that at different intervals there will be minor leaguers promoted to contribute to the cause. From my perspective when a minor league player reaches the major leagues it’s a proud moment for all - it’s heartfelt by the village of support. It’s a really good feeling to witness the success resulting from the development progression.
